School Psychologist Intern
The Coatesville Area School District is seeking a candidate for the position of School Psychologist Intern. The school psychologist assesses the learning social and emotional needs of referred students who are experiencing difficulty in school and to assist in the development of interventions to facilitate academic success and positive school functioning.
The intern stipend is divided into two payments.
Essential Duties:
- Reports to School Psychologist Supervisor for weekly supervision, approval of all reports (with signature).
- Uses recognized assessment tools to assess behavioral learning and social/emotional issues that impede school success and academic progress.
- Identifies exceptional students.
- Consults/conferences with parents/guardians, staff and pre-referral team regarding student learning needs and interventions.
- Participates actively in the MTSS, Problem Solving Team and multidisciplinary evaluation process.
- Participates in IEP meetings when necessary.
- Have primary responsibilities for preparing the E.R and generating conclusions and recommendations.
- Participates in initial IEP meetings and other IEP meetings as appropriate.
- Reads professional journals and books to be aware of related research for educational issues and various educational decisions.
- Coordinates and chairs psychiatric consultive assessments.
- Consults with parents/guardians staff and teachers regarding policies pertaining to the MDE process.
- Provides referral information to parents guardians regarding outside resources.
- Communicates with various agencies and appropriate staff involved with students who may or may not be referred for an MDE.
- Assists with monitoring special education students who are involved with outside agencies when necessary.
- Observes students as part of the behavior assessment process.
- Participates in Interagency Team meetings when necessary.
- Assess students referred for gifted screening.
- Participates in assessing students qualifying under Chapter 15 (Section 504).
- Participates in the re-evaluation process. ER: Evaluation Report, MDE: Multi-disciplinary Evaluation, IEP: Individual Educational Plan, and MDT: Multi-disciplinary Team.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and all graduate courses toward School Psychologist Certificate completed.
External Candidates must upload required clearances. This includes the Act 34 (State Criminal Clearance), Act 151 (Child Abuse) and Act 114 (FBI Clearance). All Clearances must be within 1 year of application date. Candidates not providing updated clearances will not be considered for employment.
