Job Summary
To assist in the delivery of Title I student’s educational program under the direction of his or her teacher(s) so as to support student success in the educational program to the highest degree possible.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Pennsylvania State Credential or Competency.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate effectively with students with learning, physical and emotional disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement.
- Ability to understand and follow directions and to implement good judgement.
- Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality.
- Any additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of School Directors.
Required Education:
2-year associate degree, 4-year bachelor degree preferred.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Must have the ability to work with students.
Exhibit an interest and concern for children.
Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to think and react quickly and appropriately to different circumstances.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
Essential Functions and Duties
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions in a timely manner.
- Performs tasks assigned by teacher and supervisor.
- Prepare and adapt classroom materials as necessary to support the Title I educational program.
- Observe and record student data as required and share this information with appropriate staff as determined by Title I programming.
- Escort student(s) as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility in the carrying of out of duties.
- Demonstrate student confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
- Provides individual and small group Title I instructional assistance to children as directed by the Reading Specialist or supervisor.
- Assist in the supervision of students.
- Refrains from inappropriately discussing matters involving students and co-workers.
- Performs other duties as directed by teachers or supervisors.
- Read and become knowledgeable with your individual school building’s faculty handbook.
- Assume other duties as assigned by Building Principal and/or Federal Program Coordinator.
