Electrician Technician Assistant

 

The position of the Electrician Technician Assistant is to provide students and employees with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work, learn, play, and develop.  They are also responsible for inspecting, installing, and doing repairs of all equipment in assigned area and under the direction of the lead Electrician.

Hourly rate is $18.83 per hour ($19.83 per hour after 1,040 hours probationary period)

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in keeping all electrical equipment, panels, fuses, circuits, generators and fire alarms in facilities owned or operated by the School District in safe working condition.
  • Assist senior personnel in electrical installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
  • Work and practice safety at all times.
  • Perform all work in a workmanship-like manner, clean up after each job, maintain tools in good order, keeping vehicle assigned to him/her in a clean and orderly condition, inform his/her supervisor of materials needed to be ordered for that trade.
  • Must work in a team environment.
  • Assist others with special projects, as assigned.
  • Be familiar with electrical fittings, controls, pneumatic/electric switches, pumps, lighting dimming systems and be able to repair same.
  • Assist Journeyman Electrician with installs, repairs to motors, lighting circuits, electrical control equipment, transformers, conduit, duct systems and other types of electrical lighting and power equipment.
  • Assist with installing, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of electrical systems including clocks, bells, speakers, intercoms, burglar alarms, fire alarms and outdoor lighting.
  • Check circuits and perform electrical repair under the supervision of the Journeyman Electrician.
  • Performs troubleshooting work to help locate defects in electrical systems.
  • Work with blueprints, drawings, wiring, and manuals.
  • Operate manual, electrical, and specialized tools.
  • Practice lock /out and tag /out
  • Accurately document time and materials utilized to complete work orders.
  • Assist in Maintaining inventory supply for parts, equipment, machinery and tools; procures necessary items.
  • Helps Maintains various records and reports (e.g., job records, parts inventory, supply lists, work orders).
  • Operate various equipment and machinery as designated by the assigned work area.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Manager.
  • Assist with Snow removal
  • Respond to emergency related requests (Emergency Calls) during and after regular work hours and on weekends as required.

 

Required Education:  High School Diploma or GED. Vocational/technical certification in electric work preferred. Prior training in the electrical field desired.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have basic knowledge in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.
  • Prior experience performing commercial electrical work
  • Minimum of five (2) years’ experience in electrical work, preferably in a commercial environment.
