Summary Statement:  The position of the Plumber Technician Helper is to provide students and employees with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work, learn, play, and develop.  They are also responsible for inspecting, installing, and doing repairs of all equipment in assigned area and under the direction of the lead Plumber.

Hourly Rate: $18.25 ($19.25 hour after probation period) 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • To keep a safe and working condition of all pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the School District.
  • Be familiar with plumbing codes and how to apply them.
  • Investigate and analyze plumbing, heating, and drainage calls, and satisfy them in a timely cost-effective manner.
  • Know how to read and use blueprints.
  • Work and practice safety at all times.
  • Perform all work in a workmanship-like manner, clean up after each job, maintain tools in good order, keep vehicle assigned to him/her in a clean and orderly condition, inform his/her supervisor of materials needed to be ordered for that trade.
  • Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
  • Learn how to work well with other trades on the same job and get along with them.
  • Familiarity with plumbing fittings, grease traps, drainage field septic systems and plumbing fixtures, also to install sanitary water fixtures, supports, hangers and foundations, open clogged drains, using force pumps, sewer tapes or sewer machines, check and test pipe lines for leaks.
  • Familiarity with different types of pipe materials (where and how to use them).
  • Familiarity with plumbing fixtures (names, types, material, and size).
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power hand tools, larger power tools, and machines.
  • Be familiar with pneumatic water systems (general principals of operation) vacuum systems and be able to replace or repair.
  • Ability to properly solder a joint (1/2” to 1-1/2” copper using lead free solder silver solder, 95-5).
  • Installation of soil pipe (all phases) also PVC and ABS pipe.
  • Keep accurate record of repairs made and materials used.
  • Completes any job assigned to him/her by immediate Supervisor/ Manager
  • Complete all paperwork and electronic Work orders in a legible and efficient manner. Update Work orders Daily
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Respond to emergency related requests (Emergency Calls) during and  after regular work hours and on weekend.
  • Complete job assigned to him/her by Supervision.

 

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have experience in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.
  • Be familiar with codes pertaining to this trade and how to apply them.
